The Pearson Service Learning Advisory Board was created to provide support and guidance to career-focused institutions as they introduce and enhance their service learning concepts. The board believes that the promotion and integration of social responsibility and community engagement are critical elements for the learning outcomes and success of the students who our institutions serve.
A Case for Service Learning
Service learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility and strengthen communities.
Mission Statement
The Pearson Service Learning Advisory Board was created to provide support and guidance to career-focused institutions as they introduce and enhance their service learning concepts.
The board believes that the promotion and integration of social responsibility and community engagement are critical elements for the learning outcomes and success of the students who our institutions serve.
We are a group of dedicated career education professionals who believe in the promotion and strengthening of Service Learning with the following core goals:
- Student Success: We will endeavor to create opportunities for institutions to improve student success through service learning.
- Awareness: We will promote awareness of student experiences in service learning to our educational and career partners in our local and global communities.
- Partnership: We strive to develop and maintain partnerships with our institutions and other communities of interest that impact student outcomes.
- Impact: We will regularly evaluate the impact of our efforts.
